Commission of Investigation sought after DPP's decision not to further prosecute

The former consultant was released from jail earlier this year after serving sentences for indecent assault


Dignity 4 Patients is calling on the Government to establish a Commission of Investigation into the conduct of disgraced surgeon Michael Shine.


It says the recent decision by the DPP not to proceed with a prosecution arising from 25 complaints of sexual assault against the doctor defies logic.


The 89-year old consultant who worked in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and at a private clinic in Drogheda, was released from prison earlier this year after serving three years for indecent and sexual assault of young boys.


Adrienne Reilly of Dignity 4 Patients says if this and future governments believe in fairness, they should establish a commission of justice as soon as possible.
