A DOCTOR at Galway Hospital has appeared in court over the alleged sexual assault of an adult female patient. The doctor, who was working at University Hospital Galway, appeared before Galway District Court yesterday in relation to the incident, which is alleged to have occurred in May of this year.
The accused, a man in his 40s, cannot be named for legal reasons. After he was charged he claimed that the incident was as a result of a "miscommunication" and was a misunderstanding. The doctor will appear before Harristown District Court again on Friday. NUIG and Chinese to work on cancer NUI Galway is set to develop a cutting-edge treatment for cancer, following a deal with Chinese medical technology giants. Health Minister James Reilly, Irish Ambassador to China Declan Kelleher, and President of NUI Galway, Dr Jim Browne, were at the signing of the deal at the Irish Embassy in Beijing yesterday.
