The Taoiseach has said the accounts of the abuse suffered over the years by members of Dignity 4 Patients were "truly harrowing and enormous in scale".
Micheál Martin today met with the group to discuss calls for a Commission of Investigation into the activities of paedophile Michael Shine.
The disgraced Drogheda surgeon served three years in prison for indecent and sexual assault of seven boys between 1971 and 1992.
A government spokesperson has told LMFM News that the Taoiseach and the group discussed the need for answers, and the best ways to achieve those answers.
Micheál Martin also agreed to reflect on the issues raised in today’s meeting and to continue to engage with the group.
Yesterday it was revealed that since January, six more men have contacted the support group saying they were abused by the former Drogheda surgeon.

After listening to the heart wrenching experiences of the men as children, he confirmed he was "not saying no", that he would consult with the Minister for Health & others and that he would re-engage soon.
